In 2011, Craig Susser opened his namesake restaurant with an old Hollywood vibe, glamorous clientele, top-notch service and live music. Cole’s, Los Angeles’ oldest public house, evokes the spirit of saloons that dotted the west in the early 1900s. Soon after the restaurant opened in 1908, a customer asked the house chef if he would dip the sandwich bun into the juice of the meat because his gums were sore. Jack agreed and gave the man a “dipped” sandwich—thus Cole's legendary French Dip Sandwich was born. The cherished landmark still features its original glass lighting, penny tile floors, historic photos, and the welcoming 40-foot mahogany Red Car Bar.
Coles’s will serve their French dip and turkey dip sandwiches on the third floor concourse.
