"The
Fabulous Forum"
closed its doors on June 2, 2001
at 50 Piccadilly St
in London,
Canada.
1984 - 2001
The establishment, which Smink said is so well known it's a "cultural institution", first opened on Piccadilly Street in 1984 and closed in 2001. Yes, that's right ... a landmark of ours has closed it's doors forever! The watering hole we have all enjoyed for so long leaves us nothing but memories.
Rob Smink, farewell. We salute you and your staff for all the fond memories you gave us over the last 16 years. Fairwell!

The forum has closed! Yes, that's right ... a landmark of ours has closed it's doors forever!
There are lots of rumours running rampant about the reasons
behind the closing of the bar, the proceedings afterwards, and the new
venues. Almost all the rumours are completely false. Biker involvement,
as the latest rumour, is completely false!
In a nutshell, property owner Mike Dziadura unexpectedly told the Fabulous
Forum that he was no longer interested in renting to them. London strip
club owner Rob Smink was forced to shut down the Fabulous Forum on June
4, 2001. After a grand party he auctioned off memorabilia from the bar,
Athena Fox removed the stage for posterity, and the doors closed forever.
The Landlord then made a deal with a new owner, Danny from Windsor, to rennovate and create an Adult Entertainment bar called "Legends on Piccadilly", opening sometime this summer. Here again, the rumours are all wrong - Danny is an established owner of many clubs and is hoping to run a class act with the club - no biker involvement here at all.
There has been a long battle between the City and all parties involved over the past year, as the Landlord took a successful business and evicted it just to set up his own in the same location. Unfortunately, Rob Smink lost in a court challenge but things are not finalized yet. Mr. Smink had hoped to relocate to the buildings on King street behind the Beef Baron, but City Hall declined to grant him a transfer of his license to that location. While the ownership of the Beef Baron is well known, they were just supporting another club owner and that was the only affiliation Mr. Smink had with them. This was not a turf war it was a legal challenge to Free Enterprise.
The location has been completely gutted and rennovated as a showcase strip bar within London Canada. The service bar has been extended two-fold and now has a stand up bar. Neon lights are used all over and glass blocks have been installed on the VIP lounge wall. The stage has been increased in size (though no perverts row...) and a complete new lighting and sound system has been installed. You will not recognize the place. Yes, a half million was spent - that is one rumour that really is true. However, they did get the bar for free (i.e. it was not bought from Mr. Smink) so the costs are not excessive.
The Fabulous Forum website now lives on to support and promote
adult entertainment in the Windsor - Toronto corridor.
